Obituary of Thomas J Vargo

Thomas J. Vargo, Columbia, SC  -- Thomas Vargo passed away peacefully on May 10, 2023.  He was born January 8, 1940 in Linden, NJ to the late John and Rose Vargo.  In addition to his parents, a daughter, Leta Vargo Costello, preceded Tom in death.

 He leaves behind his wife, Sherry Vargo, sons, Shawn Vargo, Bradford Vargo (Stacy) Christian Vargo (Emily) and a daughter, Beth Vargo Edge (Forrest); 1 brother, 6 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. 

 Tom was a country club pro at Royal Pines Country Club and Pleasant Point Country Club in Beaufort, SC, Hillcrest Golf Club in Orangeburg, SC and Crooked Creek Country Club in Hendersonville, NC. 

Tom was also a noted South Carolina nature photographer.  Tom conducted workshops and lectures, many for the SC Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism. Tom’s work has been used in textbooks, advertisements, calendars, and environmental brochures throughout the southeast. 

 All who knew him will miss Tom.
