Obituary of John Hugh McMenamim

It is with great sorrow that we announce John Hugh McMenamin passed away at home on April 6, 2023, surrounded by his children.

John was born on December 2, 1960 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to his parents, John and Evelyn McMenamin. He grew up with his three brothers and had lifelong friendships that he cherished fondly.

John proudly joined the Navy when he was 19 years old in October of 1980. He loved working on airplanes and traveling as much as possible. It was in the Navy that he met his wife, Darlene McMenamin, whom he had been married to for almost 24 years until her untimely passing in 2008. John worked at H.T Hackney for 26 years, then most recently worked at Home Depot.

John was known for his admirable work ethic, integrity, determination, and most of all his sense of humor. He was not shy about sharing his opinion and had a knack for telling it how it was. No matter the situation or place, he would find a way to make you laugh or brighten your day. He loved reminiscing about the good times and always had a good story to tell. John held many titles in life, but the greatest for him was being a dad. He loved his children unconditionally and to him they were his greatest accomplishments.

The way he died is just like he lived: he wrote his own rules, cursed like a sailor, and fought hard to the very end. He would say he may not have lived a perfect life, but he sure lived a damn good one!

John is proceeded by his loving wife, Darlene McMenamin, mother, Evelyn McMenamin, father, John McMenamin Sr., brothers; Michael McMenamin, Joseph McMenamin, and Francis McMenamin.

John is survived by his children; Krystal Perry, Joseph McMenamin and Ann Bannister as well as his grandchildren; Matthew Perry Jr, Michael Perry, Aubree Bannister, and Joseph McMenamin, Jr.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
