Obituary of Thomas Wayne Blackwood

Thomas Wayne Blackwood, 69, of Columbia, South Carolina passed away February 8, 2023 peacefully at his home in Columbia, South Carolina. He was born on August 18, 1953, in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Roland and Mary Williams Blackwood.

Thomas is survived by; his wife, Susan K Blackwood, daughter, Melissa Turner (Ryan), Son, Michael McKinsey, grandsons, Josh, and Auton, granddaughters, Ava and Hailey. He also leaves behind sisters; Ann Hope (Earl), Sherry LeTempt, nieces and nephews: Garrett, Parker (Katy), Carson, Zack, Ethan, Olivia, Allston, and Grayson.  He is also survived by his "brother from another mother," James Brooks.

He was preceded in death by a nephew, Sean LeTempt.

Wayne spent a lifetime of service helping those in need. He faithfully served the residents of Landmark Apartments for over 39 years as a maintenance supervisor.  When he was not working, he was an active outdoorsman.  He enjoyed fishing, boating, and hunting to name a few.  Wayne also enjoyed spending time with friends and family by playing pool, dancing, bowling, cooking on the grill and a spirited game of cornhole.  Wayne relished many of the simple things in life.  Mowing the yard, weekend drives, and spending quality time in the mountains.  While growing up, he was a very active athlete.  He enjoyed playing soccer and baseball.

A private family memorial was held on Monday, February 13, 2023
