Obituary For Myer George Syracuse Jr

Myer George Syracuse Jr, 77 of Pawleys Island, South Carolina passed away on January 18, 2023, in Columbia, South Carolina. He was Born on June 24,1945 in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Myer George Syracuse Sr. (M.G.) and Edith Brothers Syracuse.

George graduated from Greenville High School, where he made many life long friends. He then graduated from the University Of South Carolina with a BA in Accounting. While in Columbia, he met and married Jenny Fennell and there is where their son, Myer was born.

After graduation, George joined his father at Syracuse Produce Company, which later became M.G. Syracuse and Sons, in the wholesale produce industry.

George was a true produce man. He was a lifetime golfer, and loved to play Gin Rummy. His dream, as early as High School, was to live at Pawleys Island, and after he retired, his dream came true. George’s life had many twist and turns, but he always had a great sense of humor, love of life, and was tough as nails until the end.

George is survived by his son, Myer George Syracuse III, Daughter In-Law Sallie, Granddaughter Rachel, Sisters: Myra Syracuse Davis (Jerry), Sheila Syracuse, and Brother, Mark Syracuse (Debra).

George was preceded in death by Jenny Fennell Syracuse, his loving companion.

Memorial will be held at The Blockhouse, 1619 Augusta Street, Greenville, SC 29605 on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
