Obituary of Michael R. McElroy, Sr.
Michael R. McElroy Sr, 74 of Houma, LA and Manchester, ME passed peacefully on January 28, 2022 with the love of his life, Anne by his side.
Michael graduated Terrebonne HS in 1965. Following attending Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA Michael joined the US Navy. Here Michael met another lifelong love, his submarines. Anybody that knew Michael was going to get a class on submarines or Morse Code.
Following his time in the Navy, Michael was finance manager for numerous Car Dealerships in Maine. He loved being apart of making people’s dreams of the right set of wheels come true.
Michael enjoyed life, family, friends and fun, Hakuna Matata. Whether it was enjoying a day on the lake with his wife Anne, a competitive match of tennis, his wise and intuitive talks with his kids, playing LEGOs and doing workshop projects with his grandchildren, Sunday drives in the T-bird with 50s music blasting, or all of the beloved Mardi Gras celebrations Michael relished in the delight of it all.
Michael is predeceased by his parents Earna and Shirley McElroy of Houma, LA, brother Steve McElroy of Houma, LA and grandson Matthew Walker of Farmingdale, ME.
Michael will leave a hole in not only the heart of his wife of 21yrs, Anne McElroy but his daughter, Judy Nodwell of Coventry, CT; Son, Michael R. McElroy Jr and his partner, Ashley of Portland, ME; son, Marc McElroy and his Wife, Felicia of Belgrade ME; daughter, Jennifer Augustinaitis and her husband Tony, of Dallas, GA; and daughter, Jessica Thibeau and her husband, Shawn of Lexington, SC
The light of Michael’s life has always been his grandchildren and great grandchildren Abigail, Mikaela, Dylan, Nicholas, Nadia, Kiara, Tyler, Kylie, Adrianne, Aubrey, Charles, Samuel, Theo, and Emory.
Michael will be lovingly remembered by his Sister, Patti LeCompte and her husband, Dan of Richmond, VA; Brother, Timothy McElroy and his wife, Teryl of Metairie, LA; and sister, Peggy Touchet and her husband, Russell of Houma, LA. Along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on February 12 2022 at 11:00 at Saint Francis de Sales Cemetery West Main St Houma, LA
